To fish or not to fish today

I fished the whitefish chain up here on Tues before the rain set in. The water temp was 46 degrees. I did manage to catch 10 bass in about an hour in a a half. They wouldn't chase cranks at all. I had my best action with a drop shot rig with a beaver tail. The outside of the weedline was the best. If I would have gotten skunked, I would have hung it up for the year. Now I will probably try it again next week. Good luck.

Fished from 11:00 til 5:30 on saturday. Beautiful day on the lake. No wind to speak of, a little sunshine mixed in here and there. The temps were in high 40's. Sounds like the perfect fall day and it was, except the fish didn't cooperate for us. We tried two different lakes and used live suckers on the second lake. Total was 8 fish with the biggest being right around 3 lbs. Water temps were in the high 40's.

Made it out on Sunday. Water temp 45 BRR! Had 4 bites and caught 3 bass. Biggest 17" but lost a monster which was bite #4. Oh well, huge confidence builder though just to know that they will still bite.

Pitched jigs to the weedline then dragged them in. Most hit on the fall and wow did they hit it. Except the biggun, I didn't even know it was on and had a weak hookset, heck maybe I didn't even set the hook. Grr - next time!

Yes they can still be caught and this is coming from a guy who sucks fishin the fall on lakes.

Depends on the day, some smack them others you'd swear just nudge it with their nose to see what it is... I know from experience they are active right until ice up, willing to even chase spinnerbaits at 34 degrees for a water temp.
