hey guys, forgive me if this topic has been recently covered, but I have not been on this part of the forum yet.

I have only once targeted muskies (on the croix) so know very little about the yearly cycle they follow, consequently I am ignorant as to the most active feeding times this time of year. I would guess first light, as it would get the forage moving around, but that's just an educated guess. Judging by the number of boats on harriet this weekend they are hitting all day, but I also know the guys out fishing walters pick up this time of year too. Oh, since I live between Harriet and Calhoun, I will more likely than not be on one of those lakes initially. (My bro caught a decent one on the flyrod couple of years back on a city lake)

Thanks allot for any help. I have targeted so many species in MN and beyond, just never spent any time on the Muskies. It's about time for a change anyway

Hiya -

The deeper it gets into fall, the better the banker's hours (10AM-3PM) seem to get. Not that you can't catch fish at dawn and dusk, but midday hours are consistently good this time of year.

RK is right on, mid day rut activity by the muskies, I like it because you can be loaded up and off the water before dark. I also like that because I have had numerous near misses on deer during the summer months towing the boat which creates a longer slow down/stop time with the grimmy bug laden windshield, now the deer are really moving at dark so I can hope to get some venison with the heater in a few weeks. Mid Day Musky, Perfect !

I might add some logic.

Fishen gets good, weather gets a bit colder you wear more junk an strap on yer boots...and you are having fun on the water......OPPS...did not see that coming...now I'm dead.

PLEAZE....keep it real and wear your life vests.

Less junk on floor of boat ...keep it clean an open.

Really you only need few maybe 10 lures a rod & net an camera...be safe.

Only takes seconds to lose one of ya....I got no time right now for viewing dead guys / gals.

Keep yer mind right an tight....have a blast...live to see 2010 season.

smile
