Plat books on-line

Anyone know if/where there are county plat books on-line?

I guess it's more of a general question, if there is a one-stop-shop for all the MN counties plats, or is it more of a county by county thing?

County by county from what I can tell. Some county websites have the GIS mapping featured where you can look up parcel ownership and get air photos and a bunch of other info. Otherwise I like to buy older plat books, you can get them for about half price and most of the info is still good.

I usually just do a quick search for "[county name] MN GIS maps", they're getting really advanced with a lot of them now and provide valuable information.

I have yet to find a one stop shop for all counties, but it seems most counties have at least some type of GIS available.

Yeah, some counties have plat books and some don't. Those that do might only have hard copies. GIS applications would probably be your best bet.

But I don't think the GIS maps give you the owner info do they? Some counties sell them directly and some you have to go through a service. The only benefit is owner data and that may be a bit out-dated when you get them. They usually cost $25+.

The counties i've been looking up have shown owner information - there were a few that only showed the parcel number but you can use that to do a property tax lookup and get plenty of information from that. Both methods online and completely free of charge.

It's almost scary what they make available as public knowledge on the internet...

Yeah, some counties are hesitant to put owner names on there, but most do. You should be able to search by PIN number or situs address in most cases.
