Bigslugger
New to this section of the forum. So I will introduce myself. My name is Brandon, and I am from the Clearwater area. My passion is waterfowl hunting. My life in the winter is spent spearing and ice fishing. In the summer I enjoy fly fishing and fly tying. Also I shoot competitive trap. Now to the point. Around our place there is around 40+ turkeys and no one hunts them. There are many fine toms and jake but one really stands out. I saw some hens in the back woods so I put in my diaprahm call I picked up to learn on. I started chirping and all of the sudden a double bearded tom comes fully strutted out on full till my way. As he got closer. I noticed his one beard was dragging on the ground while the other was about 2" from touching the ground.I do not know where to start on hunting these amazing creatures, and yet the process of dressing them. I was wondering If I get drawn for the spring season if some seasoned turkey hunter would like to join me on this hunt for this gobbler and teach me how it is done. Thanks Brandon
Dave S
I would be more than happy to join you on your hunt. I'm not looking for places to hunt. I have plenty of area already. But if it means getting another person addicted to the sport, I'd be all for it.

sticknstring
They are amazing creatures aren't they? It sure is a blast to hunt them. I'd be willing to tag along & toss out a few pointers as well. You'll be hooked, I guarantee it!
Bigslugger
Thanks guys! Your offers are really appreciated. Now hopefully I will be drawn for the spring season
Dave S
Better yet, if you could have a couple guys to act as sparring hens with their calls, the Toms might not be able to contain themselves.I managed to do this while mentoring a first time hunter and it drove the hens wild. Not to mention brought the toms along with them.
SmilinBob
I'm also willing to help out a new turkey hunter. If you had a couple of guys one could run a camera and you can not only enjoy the hunt over and over, but it is a good tool to learn from as you can see just what the turkeys did and how they react to different situations. Trust me, if you get one in you wont remember all those little details.
Leaddog
Brandon,As with the others I'd be happy to give you some pointers and I must live rather close by(closer to SC than Monti). Don't need to hunt your place myself, I have a great place to hunt. So, without anything to gain but experiencing another's hunt which is always enjoyable would be all I'd want from it. Turkeys have become a passion I don't mind passing along. Helped my neighbor get his first bird last spring. Haven't been into SC much since the bar changed hands, again and again.Remember to apply in early December and pick a later season (like the walleye opener) and you'll get drawn. If nothing else, you ought to be able to score a surplus tag.Good luck!
Dave S
There's talk that the final 2 season may be over the counter tags in certain areas for next spring. Whenever you choose to go Brandon and whoever the lucky person is to help you experience your first turkey, good luck. You'll be addicted before you get started. simpzenith
Brandon, that's something I would love to do. I'm always looking for someone who would allow me to tag along and video their hunt. The hunts are then put on DVD and posted to my web site. Whatever you decide, good luck next spring! [email protected]
