drop away arrow rest problem

tonight i went out bowhunting and i found a spot to sit (dint bring the treestand with) and i sat down and got situated then i drew back my bow to make sure that the rock i was next to wouldnt be a problem when i drew back. then i noticed my broadhead was hitting the front of the riser when i draw back because my drop away arrow rest isnt coming up all the way and its never done this and dint do it this summer/fall when practicing with broadheads. would i be able to shorten up the string that pulls the rest up when i draw my bow back or is there another solution?

can u manually lock the rest in the up position. my ripcord and fiance's qad can be locked up manually, which we do when hunting to prevent an oops. i dont think u can shorten the string. your cable wont be able to travel the proper distance without pulling the rest string through.

sounds like you may need an arrow stretcher if your rest wont manually lock in the fulldraw position!

ha i was gonna say, never heard one of those before. this is only my 2nd year bow hunting so dont know every single high tech gadget out there lol. but yeah i think i know how to get it to stay up. its a trophy taker. dont know the model. ill go out right now and see if i can figure it out. with the rest being up like that does it affect the accuracy?

no, because if it can lock up, when you draw back, the lock is released, but the rest will stay up, and function like normal. if you manually lock it up, you dont have to draw back to let the rest down, just pull the cord on the rest, that should do it.

If it's not coming up it's more than likely because the cord has lengthened (knot slipped) or something. Easy to check - just watch as you draw back and the cable that the cord is tied to moves down. Is the cord's slack taken up and gets tight and it still doesn't come up? I doubt that's the problem or you'd know it - something would have to give or your cable would be bulged in toward the riser. If it's the case though then your rest is physically locking up, but you can just lift it and feel for that. I'm guessing your cord has slack in it at full draw - go ahead and shorten/retie.

This was mentioned already, but it sounds like whatever cord or cable holds the rest to your bow cable to lever it up and down came loose.

You can see in this picture of a NAP rest, there is a slider that the cable attaches to and is held down with a screw. If the screw came loose, the cable could slide through part way and be too long.
