2springers
Ive never hunted Grouse, but after reading many posts here, I am intrigued. Without any specific locations, how far south int the state are they typically found? Arent they usually concentrated in northern MN? Matt Breuer
I've shot grouse all way way from Canada right down to just North of the Metro. There are also birds in SE MN as well...
UdeLakeTom
I've shot seen them in the woods around Red Wing. Years ago, but there are lots of hardwood areas for them.

CRAZYEYES
I've seen one as far south as Whitewater park down near Wabasha when I was there trout fishing. Near the cities I have seen one as far south as Ham Lake. The further north the better and more available public land.
Neighbor_guy
but primarily more in the north? If you were to take a map of MN, put a strait edge on it, line up Cambridge and say St Cloud, then go north of that line, you are in Grouse country. Now that is a bit of a simple way of putting it...The other way would be to follow Hwy 95. I have seen Grouse all the way down hwy 95 as far south as Afton. I have heard that they can be had in the river valley even farther than that. Anyways, if you follow 95 up the Croix and across to St. Cloud, then I94 up. I have seen grouse just about everyplace (with some exceptions) North and East of that line.Thats not to say there are not exceptions to that rule. There are pockets of birds south of that line. I have hit pockets here and there in Isanti, and Stearns Counties, just have to look and stumble on them.
