well the cat fish season for me has ended I might get a couple of channels fishing for eyes but I probally wont target flats unless I happen to take a trip to the deep south and I dont see that happening.

Just want to wish everyone a happy fall and a long winters nap with dreams of monster flats

Its been a great season and I'm glad that I was a part of this cat forum met a lot of great people and I still have the LOL moments with the things that happened on the river.

I hope to see you all again next spring for the flat flury that I hope to be apart of.

I will be checking in from time to time to see if anyones alive I think we should start planning a get together soon so we all can be apart of it. I was also thinking of possibly if there is enough intrested I would roast a hog for the GTG

Any Ideas would be great.

SEE YA later ELWOOD aka Gordie

I am not sure if Cool Cats is happening this year or not, but I know I am planning on spending some time up on the Chain and towards Wis. for channels. I would say Mille Lacs, but I always hit that.

Down south could happen for me at any time (or if I want to go). I need to go down to MO and then Alabama for work and the boss is putting the pressure on. Just got asked this morning. I might actually set aside a day for cat fishing down around KC.

Short of that this year should see some major trail riding (if snow happens) up by the north shore. My wife and I are planning a trip. smile

Have a good winter all you KOTC'ers smile

I am gonna go get a temp on the river tomorrow. Gonna give it one more shot if we get another nice day. Once pheasant opens up I will do a weekend or two of that. Than I wait till everything freezes and than start to chase them again. Hoping to get some grouse hunting and probably some ice fishing on mille lacs as well.

Just because they are lethargic doesn't mean they are going to bite.... Besides if you had the opportunity to fish in a river with that many fish in one spot vs a spot that has one or none. you'd pick the spot with more fish...

Kinda like. Hunt the public WMA or the private land next to it you have access too...

I doubt they would bite unless they truly were hungry or feeling like they want to use some energy.

I went out tonight to see if I could get a last min flattie. Had some stuff messing with my bait. I am assuming some eyes. Had some nice teeth marks on the tail. spread out way larger than a gar. It was a cold one tonight and the river is way up from last time I went out. Fish and Wildlife were out doing something in a boat this afternoon as well.

Why do I even take the bat off my shoulder wink ? I wonder if we'll see any targeting of slumbering kitties this offseason, and subsequent photos of said prized catch?

It would not be an easy catch unless you found where they are stacked up. Just gotta remember those big fish need to be very quickly released in the cold winter months.
