Ryan_V
Well, I did it. A year and a half to the day of loosing my buddy Jake, I picked up my new shorthair pup. My main question is hoe much to feed her? My last and current dogs were just free fed from puppy and never over ate. this new little lady is different!!! She wants to eat the whole bowl of food at once. How much is good for a 6 week old puppy?? 1/3 cup twice a day??. She had no shortage of food from where I got her!! she's plump also, how do I transition her into being free fed? I'm really excited, she is a great looking puppy and I think she will turn out great!! thanks
vister
sounds about right, where'd you pick her up at?
nofishfisherman
The amount of food will depend on what food you are feeding her. Higher quality foods will have smaller portion sizes. The bag of food will give you a guideline of where to start, just check out the feeding chart and then add or decrease it based on the dogs needs. If I remember right we feed our Vizsla 1/2 cup twice a day when we first got him at 8 weeks. Some days he's leave a little food in the bowl so after 10 minutes we'd pick it up. Someday's he'd scarf down his food and be looking for more so we'd feed a little more on those days.
gspman
RTFM. Read the instructions on the bag. It should give info on how much to feed. You can start with that and adjust accordingly.
