french_lake_kid
Just drove past my field for this wknd and it full of geese for once in my lifetime but its a rather small feild and the geese are close to the road so would it work to set up in the middle? would they land where I'm set up or will they stay where they were today? cutter08
You should be ok. If they are in the field and its that small i wouldn't worry about it that much. Just set the decoys up where you want them to land
Moonie
I’m with cutter. If they’re already using the field and it’s not huge… you shouldn’t have a problem attracting them to your spread. Good luck!
winter_grizz
Just try and get the wind and the sun to your back set out your spread exactly like the geese are in the field. you should be fine but there is a chance that they could land short of you but that's how it goes. if they do land in the field don't let them stay too long or else any other geese flying by will land with them and not you, its hard to compete with live birdsgood luck
Rost
Set up in the middle of the field. Use your decoys, flagging and calling to do exactly what they are for... to bring the geese to you.

DREZLER
I'm not so sure about all that. I've had the same situation many time before, more specifically in a plowed corn field in Nowthen 2 falls ago. We had Geese using the field on the far upwind side, but we were unable to drive the truck out into the field and were forced to walk our goose decoys out (strict farmer). So instead of walking all the way across it, we just set up halfway down, only to find the geese going too tall over our heads then down into the field, right where they were the day before. Now in your scenario you might be okay, however if you have the chance to set up exactly where they were I would do so. And there is no state laws about what your distance must be away from state roads and county roads, just make sure your not shooting at the road. And i don't know why those birds liked that spot on the far upwind side. Either because it helped them stay out of the wind, or else because if they land on the far upwind side than their buddies can land behind them without having to fly over their heads. Good luck
Rost
The key here is that the field is very small. Picturing this scenario in my head, I picture 20 acres. If he said this was an 80 acre field, my answer may have been different.
carpshooterdeluxe
even with an 80 acre field a guy should be able to pick the birds back up and work em into shooting range with flagging and agressive calling if they start looking at another portion of the field. hi-lo doublecluck baby!
