The best coyote calls

What is the best coyote call for this time of the year when hunting in a open field. Just wondering what has worked for some of you people out there. Also what brand of call??

hurt pup will still draw them in at this time. Also the typical prey calls work, but it will mostly be the curious young ones. I have a tweety call that I like, I also have a red desert howler, but I have found with the wooden attachment on it, it is too loud and too scarey sounding for most coyotes.

I would bet that if you put out a turkey decoy or three, and then used some turkey calls, you might get an couple of takers.

i have yet to call in a yote with a mouth call, i dont know what the heck i'm doing wrong, I bought the johnny stewart electric call last year and its called in 3 yotes so far.

I use the barrell of a HS squirrel call. The bellows tore so I tossed that and experimented with a little. Been able to replicate a pup in distress, squirrel/rabbit distress and a mouse squeaker.

The call itself has a metal reed in the end and a squeaker on the side. If I think about it later, I'll try to find it, take a pic and post it here later.

How about the elctronic calls what does anyone think of them. I seen one the other day for sale for 80 bucks i forget what brand it was though.

I use both and both have their places. My electroic caller is wireless and I have about 200 yards of range in fields. I can get more if I put it up off of the ground and have a direct line of sight.

I'm stil llooking for my call. I think it's buried in my truck somehwere. I'll try to get a pic posted one of these days

One thing I like about it is the versatility (different sounds) which ensures follow-up visits to the same areas. The 'yotes won't know it's the same call.

I wouldnt leave home without my electronic caller, wont use it every stand but I know I have it in the bag of tricks. Plus I have my own sounds on my fox pro, which are unique and know the coyotes have heard some of them

+1 on this; buy a call and learn how to use it. then buy a different KIND of call and learn that.

IMHO, most calls are good, just get one and practice
