DRH1175
I just bought a new Cuddeback Capture IR. I put in brand new energizer batteries and the Lbatt is on. What is the deal with that?

HunterLee
I have one of each- the Ir and capture. Both have worked great since i got them this summer. I would take them out and put them back in, or get new ones. I am glad I haven't had the trouble everyone else has had.
sticknstring
I've found the cheap Rayovacs work good as anything. I've had a Capture IR out for the past few months with them and it's still got plenty of juice. I'd say you got a bad batch of batts. DRH1175
I figured it out. You have to have it off when putting in new batteries! Not the camera but the operator.
vister
maybe its just me, but, without batteries, isn't it off? couldn't you replace batteries, then just flip off, then flip on? or does the on/off switch HAVE to be off before pulling batteries
Boosey
You may have to update the camera's firmware. Sounds commplicated, but it's not. Take the batteries out then put them back in. If the last set of numbers that flashed on the display while powering up are 23-23 or greater, then you are up to date. The update was Feb or 2009 so if the camera was made around that time or before you'll need to update. I did this to my IR and it worked awesome until someone hacked it along with my security box off of a tree on my land in the past couple weeks. Your's doesn't have my name and phone number on the back? Just kidding. Enjoy your camera. They are great.
Boosey
Oops go to cuddeback web site - product support - firmware updates. Etc. They have step by step instructions.
DRH1175
Even with the box they hacked it off? Now that is bad. How did you have it fastened to the tree? I would think by the time they get it out of the box it would be ruined. That is bad. I ordered a box for mine. I was hoping by locking it and using big lag bolts into the tree it would be safe. Apparently not. I will really have to hide it then.
Boosey
I did the same as what you are thinking. I drilled larger holes in the back and put two probably 1/2" lag bolts to the tree. I still like to believe most people are honest, so I'm sure your set up will be secure enough. Mine was on private property and on a food plot, so now this joker knows what I planted and knows what I have coming in. Wish I knew what was coming in Good luck. I still have one Cuddeback left.
