Spintech Hooks

Please keep in mind I am not connected with this company at all.. more asking your opinion on the design than anything. I think the idea is kinda neat and wonder if they help at all?..

If you do a search for spintech hooks. they are a treble hook that have their own built in swivel. Supposedly its to help loosing fish. Might be nice to try some, wonder how expensive they will be? To be released in late October I think.

I would question how much they would help. With a split ring a hook can rotate 270 degrees in either direction so the hook can already bend with the fishes fight pretty well. I don't think any fish you would catch really are going to do a gator death roll to require more range of motion than that, and even then your line will take the rest.

My reason for losing most fish is relatively small trebles not hooking very deep. There really aren't many baits I have where I could up the size on the trebles though. Maybe I'll just stick to my muskie baits though; bass don't get off 3/0 and 4/0 trebles very often.

Sounds a like a bit of marketing to catch fisherman better than it does fish. It looks good on paper, but in use is it really going to do much for you?

I think most is put on the fisherman to keep fish hooked up. As long as you keep them from jumping, you stand a much better chance of landing them. As Nick mentioned though, I have noticed that the ones that get off while underwater during pulls seem to be just lightly flesh hooked... My fav treble hook is the excalibur counter rotating for keeping fish hooked up, but a round bend does good too.
