banded pigion?

we shot a white pigion with a green band on its right foot which appears to be some tracking thing and a yellow band that says AU2009 RVR 9000.. what is it???

Probably a pigeon raised by someone. I used to raise pigeons for show and I banded all of them for identification purposes.. This one probably just escaped from someones pigeon coop.

Rum river is right. It was a racing homer pigeon. The AU stands for American racing pigeon union. 2009 denotes the year the bird was hatched and the RVR is the initials of the racing club. In this case the club is the river valley racing pigeon club in Hastings.

One of my good friend's dad is in that club in Hastings. I'll have to ask him today if he is missing any pigeons...
