Moving to Vancouver,WA from MN.

Looking for some places to fish around Vancouver, have done some salmon fishing but dont know the area AT ALL! Would prefer to fish walleye but just looking for some pointers. Thanks in advance. Look out Vancouver the Pettersens are coming out Labor day!!!!!!!

Beautiful part of the world. Sorry I can't be much help but I have a good friend who moved there a few years back so he could fish and ski year round. He is catching salmon, lingcod, crabs or shrimp everyday.

He lives in Bellingham and fishes around the San Juan Islands.

Sorry, I know this is an older post. The Columbia River is terrific for walleye, especially up towards Umatilla (couple hours from Vancouver). You can get some really big ones around there, some closing in on 20 lbs.

I used to live in portland, OR. Hit the good ol bonneville dam all the time. Great fishery. We used to light bonfires and hollar to the washingtonians fishing on the other side. good times.

So what did you usually fish for?

I am moving to just west of Portland in May from MN. I plan to bring my boat and would like to fish walleye and salmon if possible. I fish walleye a lot here in MN, but am just not sure how they fish out there say on the river. Any more tips or info would be much appreciated.

Hey Michael - it was good to meet you on the plane to Portland on Friday. We did not do very well with the sturgeon with only 1 big fish caught but that's fishing I guess. Maybe we'll see you on the plane again.
