Tax on used boats

Did the law get changed on sales tax on person to person sales on used boats and snowmobiles? There was talk about changing it in the last budget bill. Currently you didn't have to pay sales tax on such sales.

My wife works at a Deputy Register, there is no sales tax on a private sale of a used boat.

They will tax the trailer though.....

They will tax you on the trailer as mentioned.

And remember... your trailer isn't worth as much as you think it might be.

I don't know anyone who had a trailer worth more than a couple of hundred bucks

Thanks for the replies. They were talking about changing the law to generate more $. Great they didn't. I was told by Dean of Yar-Craft boats at the on the water boat show on Mille Lacs that WI changed their law and sales tax will be collected on person to person boat sales in WI. That can add up to the cost of a nice gps/locator unit or kicker motor.
