Oooooo Sled, you "sleighed" me with that "damage my reputation" comeback. However, I'm sure you know if it ain't in the MasterPlan, it don't matter which lake any of us fishes.

For sure, Windy's gotta be a little less quick to lay any challenges out there. Me? I'm a Rock Bass guy so I'm stayin' outta any walleye tourney on Cass - but did you read my report on Cass this year? Quantity AND Quality. Have your 11 yr old read that. Tell him he can have all the big walleye he wants as long as I can KEEP limits of seven diff species - including 16-19" walleye - during my week.

Just gotta defend my lake of choice you know!

It depends on the lake. Cass has a ton of 13's so taking a few once a year on trip is no big deal at all and doesn't hurt the lake one IOTA! Personally I throw everthing over 17" back on the lakes I fish.

Oh and for the record I'll take Sled and lay 4-1 in that match-up! grin

I just take pics of the big ones. I guess posting pictures of our limits EVERYTIME we go out, is frowned upon. So thats why you never see em.

ps. theres no slot on cass?

You are right Sled, on Cass only one W over 20 I believe in possession but like most guys, I agree the smaller ones are tastier anyway.

No pics posted by me on FM for Quantity as I know that would violate policy....but the pics we did take are real beauties I tell ya. I thank the Lord above for our lucky bounty this yr.

And I was even fortunate enough to land my biggest ever-a 22" Walter. And we were actually W-fishing at the time.

I know, small to most guys, but my PBest.

Pics?

Thats not small, its a pretty descent size walleye, but some can be fat and some skinny at that size. Thats the most common size on some lakes I fish. It takes longer to get your limit, (14-17") but I'll never complain about catching them all day long.

Geno those pics are three years old man! If you are gonna use them you got to delete the date! LOL

Just giving you the business there. I think I posted my 23.5" that I released last year.

As for Cass Lake, we fish it as a family and have been doing that for 22 years. Catching fish is just a bonus to us, we do not seek the prime lakes for maximum fish. If that was the case we would fish early spring or late fall and battle the cold and rain. We plan this as a family vacation which is the reason for the time selection. We will probably never fish another lake in Minnesota other than Cass and not regret it for one moment.

As for the Cass Lake challenge, I am sure Brian Jones would be licking his chops at the chance to do battle with me as his partner against Sled and little Sled at the 4 to 1 odds that have been posted for $100 per fish. We could also throw in a $500 bonus for biggest walleye caught, with the same 4 to 1 odds of course. I would have no problem with those odds, us White Sox fans are used to being the underdog and sneaking up on the competition!

You can put it on the fillet board......YES!

Too funny Pier! I did mention Brian's name, but did not mention that he was a top notch local guide. LOL

Geno, here is a pic of the muskie that my father in law and I caught while out on my boat. She was released after a 25 minute fight on 8 lb mono and a 35 minute revival session at the side of my boat. You can read the full story on the Cass Lake thread either in my report or Commanche's GenesMuskie200p.jpg

Windy, the camera date was wrong...the pics are definitely from this June but it is true that all pics from the last 8 years or so look about the same...lots of pannies, LMB, walters, and small pike....just that this year we also ran into the crappies!!!

Hey Pier, hope I am even-money just to wake up tomorrow!!!!

Now leaving the baseball forum for the fishing forums to discuss fishing...........

It's all good Geno, I was just giving you a little of the ole Eddie Haskell there, you know, givin ya the business! Nice pics!

Sled, I will concede every lake in Minnesota to you and little Sled....except Cass and promise never to fish any other lake in Minnesota other than Cass. I do like it that I did get the respect of a 2.5 to 1 favorite over two seasoned Minnesota fisheman though on my "home lake" LOL

I know that there are tons better but this is the family choice. Can't fight 22 years of tradition. We did talk about finding a place that was closer to us a few years back and the best choice I could find that was under 6 hours was Bay De Noc up the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan near Gladstone Michigan. I hear the walleye fishing is outstanding. People showed me pics and said that 200+ fish per day was not unheard of. They also have a casino which is key for our family! LOL Got some info but never put it to the family vote. We just keep finding our way up to Cass every year. This year was a down year, we only had 14 family members but next year looks to be a big one, could top 25. I would love to fish Mille Lacs, Kabtogema, or others but know that I probably won't. Family tradition speaks louder than the size and number of walleye.
