Lisa Almquist
OHHH I love smoked fish too!! I did get out fishing this past weekend on Winnie. We did moderately well and baked up our walleye a couple nights ago. It was very good. We also sold most of the daycare toys on Friday at our yard sale and that feels good to get our basement back! The Hell's Angels are in Carlton this week! It's big news around here. They've booked part of the Black Bear Casino and the Lost Isle is their headquarters. I just drove by the Lost Isle about a hour ago they have big burly biker guys guarding the entrance and law enforcement is videotaping them. Pretty crazy weekend up here in our sleepy little town! Gary Crichton
Lady Lisa good luck to ya this weekend. Hopefully it will be peacefull.I may see Winnie sometime this fall, as my usual week up there is in serious trouble. The family will be up minus me as work is calling, and no chance for a vacation this summer. At least I guess I have a job for now, but we are hurting big time. Lisa Almquist
Jeez Gary, sounds like we're two peas in a pod with not getting away from work when everyone else seems to! Winnie's great in the fall too but like a good friend said to me not too long ago-you got to get away!!
Gary Crichton
Trust me on that one. It will be very difficult to be here, while they are up there, but there is nothing I can do about it. Hey I had 1 day this summer. OH BOYOctober is my favorite month up there, so I still have that to look forward to. Who knows I may have lots of time sooner than I think. Lisa Almquist
Everything is going quite smooth here in Carlton. There are still cops EVERYWHERE. I've been working the 6AM-2PM shift the last couple days and I still see 2 or 3 patrolling even at that early morning hour! I think the helicopter flying over the house every 10 minutes is a little much and I am concerned about how many tax dollars are being spent but all in all, I'm glad it hasn't been too much of a fiasco. The main concern it seems is about a rival gang coming over from Wisconsin and causing trouble but that's just the rumor going around. Lisa Almquist
Email me the Swanni Punch recipe!! All the "Angel's" are out of my area. They're on their way to Sturgis now. Still no major issues so I guess the massive amount of officers really was a good thing. I'm going to have to take a pic of those tomato plants! With a bunch of rain we've gotten over the last week, they are really flourishing now. You guys would freak out on how big and beautiful they are! With a bunch of rain we've gotten over the last week, they are really flourishing now. You guys would freak out on how big and beautiful they are! As the old saying goes " much adieu about nothing" I wish my plants looked better. Everything is scrawny and stunted this year? Maybe if the sun would come out for more than 10 minutes at a time, or if it would stop raining, or maybe a little warmth. Sunday morning 44 degrees.......sheesh
Lisa Almquist
Jim waters them every morning when we know it's not going to rain that day so I give all kudos to Jim for these plants surviving this year. WAYYYYY less plants next year too!! We also planted rhubarb and asparagus and they seem to be doing fine. It's been such a strange summer hasn't it? I hope the winter isn't AWFUL! Lisa Almquist
Punch recipe forwarded to Lamb Jam!! My son is at camp this week and I pick him up in Willow River on Saturday. I'm trying to get Monday off (cross fingers that someone wants my shift) so maybe we'll head up to the cabin this weekend still! I'm not sure about fishing-probably yard work but if it's supposed to be that nice, even working at the cabin sounds like a mini vacay! Gary Crichton
FNF you should have made a batch up and sold it at the bikers convention. Lady Lisa I heard only 50 people got arrested, mostly the usual stuff. DUI, disorderly conduct. and such.
