Winning is all that matters,, and that's why middle of the road schools with fairly easy entrance credentials (not Duke for example,) have to take a chance to compete agst the bigger schools. See Cincy and wait until the bomb explodes in Storrs under Calhoun when leaves,,, it will make Pete Carroll look like a Saint,, The UConn mens' program has more violations not reported then the US GOVT.

Huskers will get beat bt OU in the conf title game. OU will lose one along the way. The National title game selection will be a mess. 5-7 one loss teams from major confs with TCU and Boise being unbeaten. THe only caveat is Oregon,, but OSU will show them their toughest road test all year. IF Oregon goes unbeaten,, they have to be in the mix,, along with Boise. Ohio ST will go down at Iowa.

IF iowa runs the table--- only loss at AU,,, they deserve a shot as much as Boise or any other 1 loss team. Their def is the best in the land,, and CLAyborn needs to become a Viking. wouldn't have replied to this post,, but Jerry Rice popped up along with Moss. Did some looking at work,,, and the two WR have nearly exactly the same #'s through the their first 12 years,,, with MOSS a slight edge in TD. Currently MOSS has 151 receiving TDs to RICEs career total of 197. Rice played until 42,, MOSS is 33,,, MOSS can smoke Rice's record(s). (if he decides to play) Of course the whole SB thing will get played,, but I'll take Ron Santo at 3rd over Brooks Robinson anyday. moSS is on the same field as Rice,, and in 3-4 years,, will likely be better than him. Work ethic,, the nod goes to Rice,,pure talent goes to Moss. The #'s are scary close.

Thome currently (before his 25th HR) had a slugging avg of .619. Hamilton was .635-- highest in baseball. Thou Jim doesnt have enough AB to qualify (3.1 AB per team game played) ((with 25Hr,, he should)) he is in the running to have the highest slugging % in the Majors this year. Incredible.

I'am not a Bronx fan,, but when you look at the #'s,,, gamer hitting, championships,,, the best SS of all time is a close call between Honus Wagner and Jeter. I challenge anyone to come up with a SS better than those two. Ripken,, not even close. DJ will pass Ripken in hits in the next 2 years, plus hits for a much higher avg. Honus Wagner, Jeter,,, ................... then Ripken. A serious (non biased) baseball mind can say Jeter is in the top 5 players in the last 25 years. I don't care about one AB--- Jeter has been fun to watch since the 1996.

I'am glad that I will not be able to watch the Saints game on the 9th. If anything can happen,,, the Cubs win the WS. I'd beat the house payment that in the next 25 years (my lifetime) the Yanks will win at least 3-4 titles and the Cubs win NONE. Both spend lots of $$. The Cubs also buy talent,,, Lee, Soriano,Ramierz,Pierre etc.... but they don't get it done. Even their farm system doesn't get it done,, Wood,Prior, Zambrono etc... Point is,, in NY-- you better win. In CHI,, who cares, just drink Old Style. The Cubs farm system pales in comaparsion to the yanks and twins, A's, Braves, etc, becasue of leadership, and the fact that Wrigley sells out no matter the record of the Cubs-- that's a big reason the Cubs are the Cubs and the Yanks are the Yanks. Quit this nonsense about buying talent = titles.

1 Title in 10 years is pretty darn good. It's just when you add Yankees to the mix. Darn good teams ,, but how many titles do the following have:,, Rays, Braves, Padres, Twins, Rangers, Reds, Dodgers etc have in the last 10 years?? NONE. the medical field has recently tied concussions to ALS. Not a slam dunk (on the finding),, but most of us just have an interest in seeing our team do well. If my son had a concussion,, I don't care about the $$,, fame, or whatever;; get them healthy for their post-career. I'd rather spend a fishing trip with my son, then have all the money in the world with him gone. Any skull/brain issue is a very serious deal,, and I don't ever expect Justin to be the player he once was,,, too bad,, but some things are bigger than winning.
