Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Hey guys,

i just wanted to say thank you for telling me some great tips!

I'm only 15 and i really love fishing!

I used to just sit on the dock at the cabin and fish the whole day while everyone else was tubing or doing recreation stuff.

And i just wanted to let everyone know that i have learned a lot from everyone.

I always need more tips on walleye fishing.

I am always willing to learn new things.

So if anyone has some tips that they'd like to share,

i would be more than happy to learn them.

you can email me at jkaufer at hotmail dot com

or just post them

Thanks,

YFG

Good to hear you are getting out and fishing. I learned very little about fishing from my family as they weren't big outdoorspeople, so I spent a lot of time learning on my own at docks, piers, and shorelines. There was also a lot of time watching Saturday morning TV and reading everything I could find in the local library.

Now you have something I and many other never had growing up, instantaneous information at your fingertips. Whenever you have a question or want to look something up or just browse, you can find it all here at fishingminnesota. Keep asking questions and you'll find your enjoyment of fishing growing. It's good to be curious.

You have one of the best walleye areas right next to you. The St. Croix river...read the St. Croix forum and you will get lots of walleye info. Then all you need to do is find a spot to do the fishing. Good luck.

You will pick up a ton of information on this site. The croix is going to start heating up in couple weeks and the bite will be back on. Stick with it, you have a lot of years to master the art or at least (like myself) have fun trying.

Here's something to try when you are fishing walleyes from shore. This can be especially effective on a river when things seem slow.

I like to use a spinning reel for this. Run your line through a walking sinker, you know the slip sinkers that have a banana shape. Place a BB split shot some distance up the line to keep your sinker away from your bait. I like to start with about a foot so my minnow, leech, or crawler is suspended just a little off the bottom. Tie on a floating jig head of your choice...as long as it's chartruese of course. wink Cast out into fairly calm water and let it sit on the bottom. I haven't had much luck with this in rushing water. After some time carefully pick up your rod and ever so slowly pull the hook toward you. For some reason, when I do this I will get a pick up. I can only conclude that the walleyes are sitting there watching my bait and when it starts to move, they nail it.

Bob

    • the brown hounddog pictured above went in today to get fixed up!!!!!! wife should be able to pick her up about 3;30 today. sure stunk not being able to feed her this morning. the looks i got ........like what da he!!!!!!!!!
    • the missed call hasnt really bothered me, the wild should have retaliated after that but they seemed just lax about it. too bad they suspended him, just wish I was old enough to watch the playoff atmosphere of the 80's and early 90's. i thought by the end of the 3rd they would have tied it, I think the mix up lines helped change up the momentum, boudreau will need to pull some of this stuff tonight if they seem stale. I agree with Lung, Kiovu has not impressed me this year, his shootouts, his shots on goal just nothing special, just hope tonight they find a spark on the offense as we know those big boys on the Jets will be pushing them around tonight, too bad we dont have some more Folino's
    • I have the Cabelas 8'6" telescoping trolling rods in a med action I believe. Been using them for 4-5 years now. They work great for what you are asking. Although I have never caught striper on them, they work well for the walleyes up to 28". I think they collapse down to about 7'. Very reasonably priced.
    •   Is this some of your new Marketing idea's for the site Dave?
    • Snuck out today had one walk by 40 yards no shot ones gobbling at me across swamp making hos way now
    • If the refs call the game tight like they did in game 3, i think we come away with the W.  If they kind of turn a blind eye like they did in Game 4, the series is over.
    • Koivu has been pretty decent and our leading out team with 4 points but ya we just never find that next level. Our patchwork D hasn't been the issue, Stall hasn't produced like we needed him to and Nino, Coyle & Zucker have zero points between them. We needed our "depth" to score and they haven't. Coyle I think has been the best of him but he just isn't a goal scorer, has let numerous golden opportunities slip away. Hopefully the wild surprise tonight, otherwise its on Dubs to pitch a shutout and magically assists on the game winning goal.
    • Saw that Morrisey is suspended for tonight.  Really too bad they missed the call during the game.  Should've been a 5 min major and a game misconduct.  Really would've changed the entire game IMO.  There are lots of times I wish Boogy was still around.   Staal needs to be checked for a concussion and Koivu needs to be checked into a retirement home.     Seems like we can pull up last years playoff and offseason threads and just ride that until October.  Same story, can't compete with a couple heavy blue liners and can't score.
