Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

pig_sticka - Is the battery a vexilar battery? My buddy and I have always had good luck with there batteries. What battery is it if it's not vexilar? You may wan't to contact vex. Check there web site too. So far I am very pleased with the MarCum LX-3 and it comes with the best battery on the market PowerSonic.
I hope it's just a battery issue for your unit and nothing more. Good Luck...

Did you try clicking the IR button? It sounds like some interference from something. It was on the video tape I got with mine.... I believe it has 10 total settings you can set it too....

It does sound like interference of some kind, as I get this often when my buddy fires up his FL-8 anywhere near me. The IR reduction is hidden - - push the GAIN knob. Like someone already said, it has 10 settings I think. Push it once, and if it doesn't go away, push it again and again until it does. To go back to the original setting (like if you lose count), turn the unit off and back on again. Also, just make sure you don't have your gain set higher than you need. I usually turn mine down so that my bait is just a green line. Anything bigger that comes by will be red then.

The IR button is the top one. Rather than twisting for sensitivity, push the button. It makes all the difference when fishing close to a FL-8.

pig,
Sounds like interference. you were fishing close to someone who put their locator down and it messed yours up. Happens all the time. Turn your gain down as far as possible and hit the IR a few times. clear thingsright up

That happened to me the first night I used my FL18. Extremely frustrating!! The next day it worked fine. Someone at Vex told me that on some lakes at dark that these little insects come up from the bottom. The Vex is acyually marking the little creatures. It sounds a little far fetched. But my unit did work fine the next day in the same spot I was fishing the night before. It has not happened again and I have fished that same spot at night several times.

It was some type of interference. No need to push the IR button 50 times. If remember right it only has 10 different settings. It starts over after that.

If it happens again and there are no other units around that could be giving you the interferences shut the unit off, pull the transducer out of the water and wipe the bottom with your hand and put it back in the water, then start it again. Then go through your IR settings if that doesn't work.

Suspended "little creatures" in the water can cause interfernce but they won't cause a spinning effect. They can also be minimized by turning the gain down.

Yep there are litle creatures that come off the bottom at night. They're either zooplankton or photoplankton.
As Scoot said they wont make make your Vex
spin. I think you had your gain to high.

no it really was going nuts lol. it was just spinning like mad, not flashing spinning. it was interference from something, which i donno what there was no vexilars near me, maybe a vexilar sank in lake n bothered it smile.gif it is perfectly fine and caught me n my friend a huge mess of monster craps and sunnies yesterday.

Cyberfish,
Just use your FL-18 to home in on that sunken Vex if you want to find his crappie hole! Might as well try to hook it and bring it up too, since it's still working! Can never hurt to have a backup!

must have some battery on dat thing, the crappies are attracted to that transducer though. the only way i could get em is if i bounced the jig off it smile.gif

Try a heavier jig, then bounce it off the IR button. Maybe you'll solve your interference problem! The only risk is that the crappies might lose interest and leave the area.

ill try it next time out to that spot. if the crappies scatter ill just have to hit the transducer a couple more times n create some electronic vibrations down there. weird how the big crappies just like the transducer, if i accidentally hit the gain the small ones come in. weird i tell ya

(it really was the ir, kinda weird i wish i would have known right away, i get brain farts dealing with electronics)

    •   Dave, head over to "Our Lady of the Prairie" this Sunday. You can get free Wine!
    • The JV squad has a steady supply fermenting over in Silly Town Some guys on our floor in college made rhubarb and Dandelion wine in the dorm. It was not good.
    • Anyone here make their own wine?    I have been doing a little research on the process and plan to give it a shot this year. One of our favorite wines is Redass Rhubarb from Hill City SD and we like other fruit wines. My wife likes anything fruity and sweet. It may take me a while to dial in a few internet recipes to something we like but that's part of the fun.   I think I would try making some now but I think I would have to turn up our thermostat to get through the fermentation. It appears that a temp of 70-75 is necessary and our house is usually 62-68 this time of the year.
    •   I think that's exactly what I should have done. It would have probably reached me sooner.
    • I'm thinking of selling my IceGator and going with the Strikemaster. Looking at the Strikemaster, it is not as bulky and heavy. The IceGator does cut ice like butter, especially with a Strikemaster 224 bit!
    •   The default temp is 360 for the NuWave 36001 Brio I mentioned above, but it can be programmed as high as 390. I absolutely agree that it does make a difference for certain things to get those extra 30-40 degrees.
    • yes i did i messaged him directly outside of the post
    • Looks like the Hawks might be without Crawford the rest of the season.   http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2018/01/16/report-blackhawks-concerned-crawford-could-miss-remainder-of-season/
    • We use a line voltage thermostat, with it set in the "cool" position.  Once it hits the set temp the thermostat kicks the fan on, until it gets below the set point.  Works pretty well.
    • Strange I received our notification for WI yesterday but the page does not show any update. Either way WI permits are out. Already planning and getting blinds ready for this spring
