Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Other then the price difference and the liquid in the jar of the Alive version, what is the difference between the Gulp Alive Waxies vs std Gulp waxies? Is this just a marketing thing?
PerchJerker
I think the Gulp Alive is a different formula. I have both, use both, don't really pay attention to which one I'm using, and don't really notice a difference. One of my older jars of gulp was drying out a bit so I splashed in a little of the gulp alive juice and it seems to be moistening them up nicely. Wish-I-Were-Fishn
So Perch, what's your take on them? As good as the real thing?
PerchJerker
I don't use Gulp waxies very often when ice fishing - I usually start with plain plastic, then tip with real waxxies or eurolarvae if needed. And on my jigging spoons I like using a minnow head. But for open water panfish in the spring I use Gulp waxies a lot, tipping tube jigs with them (or fishing the tube jigs untipped). I can tell you exactly how many crappie minnows I've used in 8 or 9 trips this spring --- 3 ---- which was enough to reaffirm that I prefer Gulp or plain plastics for panfish.Plus it's so convenient to keep a couple jars in the boat, ready to go whenever needed. No running into the baitshop to get minnows, keeping them alive, dumping them out at the end of the day, etc.
