Loon calling - no pix

Heard my first loon on Birch Lake this morning. Ice is almost gone from in front of the house.

We had one flying over the house and calling this morning, too.

I haven't heard that beautiful sound yet,, our lakes are still thick with ice, we were fishing on it just the other day,, but soon, yup soon

Saw a pair in McGregor this weekend - no calling yet.

We've had many loons on the Minneapolis lakes for over two weeks now. They're becoming very common on Harriet & Calhoun in the Spring & Fall. The water quality has improved on these lakes & the birds have started showing up. For some reason I never hear the loon calls though. I've also seen bald eagles & swans using the lakes recently!
