Grouse Hunting

Seabass77, We did a lot of our hunting on Chippewa National Forest land but we covered a lot of area and sometimes drove 40 miles from camp to try new areas. If we found good habitat we found grouse.

SeaBass,
Look for young Aspen and Poplar trees. Lots of it, bunched together! These young growths adjacent to small marshy, swamps are magnets! Grouse eat the remaining insects near the swamps and also the aspen small buds this time of year. Throughout the winter the buds don't get covered by snow so the birds won't be to far away. Also don't overlook the oaks. I have found acorns in almost every grouse I have cleaned this year.
