usmcjsy
Anyone have any idea on what could be causing my Minn Kota to not run in 1st or 2nd speed....? It works on the 3rd through 5th speed. Is there a resistor or something shot or corroded..? Just wondering if anyone else has run into this. Worth trying to fix or scrap and buy new..?ThanksJeremy
Casey Sunsdahl
quite possibly either the switch (under the top cover) roughly $20? or the speed coil in the lower unit (I think thats what it's called) $100+... usualy when the prob is in the lower unit it only runs wide open on all speeds.. how old is it? Jim Uran
I've got one in the basement that is the same way, I suppose I can rip it apart and see what's coroded. I hope someone has some tips for us and I'm sure it's a common problem.
JimBuck
Check and see if the controller board is fried. It happened to me last year where I could turn my motor either full blast or off, no middle speeds. fishlectronics does a great job in diagnosing and fixing any issues you might have. broken_line
look and see if any of the wires in the top cover came off. if they did then theres your problem
usmcjsy
Well if its over 1/2 the price of a new motor I may as well buy a new one. Its 2 yrs old but it does sit on the boat year round and I do not cover the motor and the boat sits outside. I have not opened up the control unit yet. I was just wondering if anyone else had run into this and what the problem was. I appreaciate the ideas and input.ThanksJeremy
Casey Sunsdahl
the switch (under the top cover) roughly $20? If it has individual speeds 5 forward 3 reverse it has a switch and NOT a controll bd. inexpensive to fix.
