south_metro_fish
I am just looking for a little advise. I see the great thread going about fire line, I fish every year a little bit, this year I can see my self continuing to river fishing and getting more in to lake fishing and doing a lot more fishing then I have been. I have not been paying a whole lot of attention to the new lines they are coming up with. Sense I have been river fishing most the time I have been using Spider Wire because it is strong and I can get out of snags easy with out losing tackle. I am planing on having lake rods and river rods so what are some suggestions for each as far as what kind of line and what # test would be good, I feel like I always get to high then what I need? On the river I fish for pan fish, bass, walleye, northern and any thing that bites because that's the way it goes on the river. On the lake I can see my self doing a lot of the same fishing and maybe even try for some muskies on some of the local lakes they stocked them in. I know I would need different lines for some types of fish.
KTapper
For the river walleyes/bass I like 20.lb test Spiderwire, and or powerpro.Panfish the lighter the line the more fish you will catch.Northerns I use 30.lb braid.
mainbutter
I use 6lb mono(generic), 20lb stren, and 50lb power pro on my 3 reels. The power pro is new I'll be back in the summer to comment on how it performs.I've never met a line I didn't like though. I can count on one hand the number of breakoffs I can remember(so the ones I care about) and those were due to issues other than the line quality. I've also never met a line that I disliked for casting or other reasons.
St_Croix_Banks
I troll snells for walleye alot on the river with 8-10lb mono main line with 6lb P-line for my snells.Muskies are a whole different animal. I would get an exclusive set up just for that. 80lb Tuffline perhaps. Look at the Musky thread for more info on set-up.Let me add I'm probably behind the times a bit on line.....but just thought I'd chime in on the topic. Sandmannd
I used mostly 8lb vanish. Now I use some form of braided line and then tie my snells with 6 lbs vanish.
