18 inch Crappie
My truck uses 5w30 but I have a box of 10w30 from my last truck. Can I use it this summer to get rid of it because the 30 weight is still the same?

ec30_06
Should be no problems at all. Your owners manual will tell you what weights of oil they recommend at different temps
BpAki987
i always use 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer in my vehicles
theoilman
Absolutely! Almost all owners manuals in vehicles that are underhood stickered 5W-30 list 10W-30 as acceptable (all GMs and more). Summertime there is no performance difference between 5W-30 and 10W-30. Wintertime the lower cranking performance of the 5W-30 will make a difference. Shack
Should be fine! What year, make and model is the truck?
18 inch Crappie
2000 chev 5.3L
michaelpettersen82
I have a 2001 Silverado with a 5.3L and I use amsoil 10w30 year round and since the truck was new. I have 119k on it now and runs like it was new. now if we're talking about conventional motor oil I would not use 10w30 in the winter, but perfectly OK in the summer. Whoaru99
I'd go with what ever the Owner's Manual says is OK.I know mine (for an older truck with the 5.7L) says 10-30 is OK in the summer, but 5-30 is the preferred viscosity year-round.
