Whats ur go to knot?

Recommended Posts

What do you use for you knot when direct tying to your lures/leaders?

I use to be a big fan of the trilene knot for monofilament but ever since i started using power pro on some of my rods the palomar has been the knot of choice for both superline/braid and mono. Since i have switched from the trilene to the palomar I have never lost a fish due to bad not and im a very firm believer in only using the palomar.

The palomars i have seen tied arent really like mine. Someone had shown me and the way they showed me works great. I double the line go through the eyelit loop over the main line and pull tight. then take the loop and drop the jig throught and hold the loop up against the main line and then feed the tag line through the loop for it is tightening down on the tag line also. It works great. can say I have never seen my knot pull loose or break. I have broke the line up farther than the knot numerous times before the knot breaks.

it all depends what im using.

i use the palomar for fly fishing and float fishing with plain hooks or vertical jigs. but for casting jigs i use te clinch mostly. for crankbaits i will use improved clinches or rapala knots (loop that stays open). and for spoons i will use improved clinches to the swivel or polamars
