WOW! this is what i call luck!

today i headed out fishing. just because there was nothing else to do. it was a beautiful day. it had to be at least 40 maybe 50. i was fishing and walking comfortably in a tee shirt. i even managed to break a sweat pulling the house and the auger.

anyway. i decided to go sight fishing since i didnt have the vexilar. i wasnt expecting anything special. maybe a few small sunnies. i drilled numerous holes along a reed bed. trying to find about 7 feet of water. but i only got 3 or 4. i must have drilled 20 holes before i found a 7 foot deep area. i said screw it im not drilling anymore holes. so i started fishing. it wasnt long before i seen a small perch hanging around my bait. then i got a text and by the time i replied i looked down to see a whole bunch of nice sunnies!!

i managed 2 keeper sunnies. then everything went dead... i suspected a northern around. so i took about another rod and put on a preserved fathead minnow. and i was jigging. then a giant perch came flying in! the biggest perch i have ever seen! it must have had 4" shoulders! and easily waying over 2 lbs! it took the shiner. i set the hook. but after a few seconds... SNAP! and she was gone. so i started fishing for perch. and much to my suprise. this beast came flying in and hit! it was not the big girl but a highly respectable size perch none the less.

i caught a few more perch like that and i was in heaven! the first time i go fishing in almost a month. and i just chose a random area. and look what it produced!! 16 jumbo perch! i never in my wildest dreams could have imagined le homme dieu having perch of this magnitude!

i was thinking the same thing! if my legs are up to it. i will go back out tomorrow. but idk. they are very sore walking the mile and a half from my house pulling all that gear lol

Nice catch there! Dang man thats a long hike. Sounds like you need to find a cheap snowmobile to get you were your headed! Good luck to ya if you make it there again.

my dad has been looking for one for me for a while now lol. i really dont want to take the class. but i dont think anyone would care if im driving a 1995 or something snow mobile at 20 miles an hour. for just a mile drive lol

there is actually 19 lol. but only 16 jumbos. lol.

i had to get down there and jig. just in case it was a bowfin sneaking around. it was a preserved shiner and i was fishing it only inches off the bottom. the fish hit it as i was bringing it up. since my brother caught his bowfin through the ice i have always had a rod on hand ready to catch a bowfin.

i know there are pike in the area, i hooked one about 2 lbs. i was texting and i noticed my bait was gone. and i also had a 5lber staring down my bait about 30 minutes before i left.

Nice fish---just wish I could have caught just 1 during the tourney there in Feb.(didn't catch nothin') Oh well, maybe next year. (if you save some in the lake for me) Congrats !!

Nice day of fishing. I grew up on Geneva and used to fish Le Homme Dieu quite a bit, but never saw any perch like that come out of there. Kinda makes me want to get back up there though

i have caught perch up to 8 inches out of there. but i have never seen or caught any perch past the 10" mark until now!
