Clam Trap Scout - Mods Anyone????

PTocko

Recommended Posts

Just bought a new Trap Scout for those days when I want to fish "independently" off the beaten path. Looking for any mods that people have done - main goal is to keep it light and simple. When fishing with the scout I only want to bring the auger, flasher, couple of rods/reels, small tackle box, and regular buddy heater (if needed). Honestly it seems like a pretty complete set-up as is but just wondering what people have done. Oh, and I don't seem to mind the seat that comes with it, although if this does become a problem I will just transfer one of the seats from my boat. At this point I'm leaving it because I want as light as possible. Thanks. Paul

I am going to be updating mine this summer. I going ot be adding a few things to mine this offseason heres the list: New style canvis with the door, hyfax (you should def. get them), and a new seat that I can tip back and recline that seat in there just doesn't cut it for me, and I plan on making a compartment for my flasher so it doesn't get banged up on the tow rides. Oh and if you don't have the travel cover get one.

Get an Otter sled for the auger, and some of your gear. Put some "I" bolts into it and some cheap mountain climber clasps at WalMart. Works slick, I have a Scout and both pull at same time real nice. Substitute the Glide Lite, and yu get the idea:

you really dont need much like you said. the little shelf under the seat is very shock resistant and i have never had anything fall out of there. i keep my rods and a small tackle box in there.perfect!I too am looking for a better way to haul the vex in there and i bungee my heater to the seat rails seems to work well. another thing i did that weighs nothing is a piece of 1.5 or 2 in foam i put in there and it seems to keep stuff from bouncing around. i then use it sometimes to put my feet on instead of the ice all the time.hope this helps
