Field Edges

I have 2 stands on the woods that I hunt this year. One over looks a big grass field. The other stand sits in the corner of the woods, woods behind me and corn/tree line on my right. My stand sits right at the opening of the trail.
My questions is when having stands like this, how do you best hide yourself with having the best shooting lanes possible?
The 2nd stand I have makes me stick out real good- might as well have a big bird suit on and wave my arms saying "come this way deer" wink.gif

You could try taking some trimmed, leaved branches and tying them to the tree or the stand so that you have a small blind around the stand. For shooting lanes, take some bungee cords and bunch up some of the foliage so it will be narrow and widen up the gaps a bit.

If you have trees right behind you to break up your outline, just be still when the deer are coming & you should be fine, assuming you're up 15' or close to it. Otherwise like TomBow said try to make some kind of screen around you. Someone told me oak branches will hold their leaves once they've been cut quite a bit longer than most other type of trees, you could also try some netting. Make sure you wear a headnet, facemask, or camo paint to hide your face.

I definately wear a face mask when I hunt to break up the pattern on my face.
The stand I have does have trees almost 180 degrees around me to the back of me. Wide open the other 180 degrees.
I'll get out again and see if I can fix that up a bit by adding some netting or something like it.

most times your best bety is to move back into the woods where the trails intersect into one trail leading to the meadow or corn.this will allow you to be more concelledand you will see the deer a little bit earlier than on the edge.clear as little as possible for a shooting lane so the deer wont think of any changes.also wear rubber gloves to hide scent from your hands. good hunting

hey i have been told, and have read that 60% of a persons scent comes from the knee down. 30% from the shoulders up and the last 10 % from the knees to just under the shoulders Just a thought!
