Help with Cabelas camera

Huck

Recommended Posts

Well, I recieved my new cabelas 7" fishing camera today. Put it all together. The directions are poor at best. Overall I really like the unit. I can not figure out how the infared lights work. The direction manual shows a spot on the front that looks like one of the lights that light up next to a little box to the left that serves no purpose. Can anyone explain how the IR works on these units???

Thanks!

Infrared is invisible to the naked eye. Take your camera and monitor into a dark room, turn the monitor and Infrared LEDs on and pan the camera around the room. You should be able to see what the camera is pointed at.

While IR itself is invisible, the lights on the cameras do turn to red. I have two cameras with IR and the lights on the camera glow red when on.

The dimmer dial trick is something I did not know about my camera. I'll have to play with that too.

I got the same camera, there are 2 dials below my montior, one for contrast and one for the IR light. The one on the left if for the light, turn it all the way to the right and look at the lights on the camera they should turn red.

I have noticed I have a really hard time even using this camera at night, it lights up everything in the water, bugs, bubbles, whatever it is, and you cant really see anything else. I dont even use it at night anymore cuz I cant see my jig 2 feet away. Anyone have any tips or other problems with this camera?

I have one with a 5" screen and it seems to work good for me. It has the power button a button to turn the IR on and a button to switch cameras. There are also 3 nobs on it too, one for the brightness of the screen one for the contrast and one for the dimmer on the IR. At night I use it down viewing in a hole about a foot away. I can watch my jig with no problem, it does seem to affect the fish sometimes, all in the mood of the fish. When others use the camera day or night how far away do you usually have the camera way form your hole with the jig? After reading the post about losing the weight it makes me want to figure out a way to keep that from happening, I was a little leery of the way they had that part set up when I got it.
