Next week the leagues start at Wild Marsh. I can't wait. It's been about two years since my eye surgery so I'm ready to go! I'll post my scores each week. Anybody else that shoots clays, post your scores also.

Thanks, Scotty cool.gif

I finally got out on wednesday afternoon and shot a round. 29, a personal best at wild marsh. Bad news, I broke my beloved Franchi Veloce. Took it to a 'smith and got it fixed but I was warned not to shoot it for sporting clays. So I bought a Browning Ultra XS sporting clays model in 20ga. What a sweet gun. I shot a round saturday, well worth the money!

I don't have the luxury of shooting a walk through course (I'm assuming all your scores are for walk throughs) but I shoot metro gunclubs three 5 stand clays league. Two rounds of 25 I'm at 21 & 21. I live in Cokato and don't know of a place to shoot a walk through league anywhere near there. Would if there was one...

Cootz, How far of a drive is it to drive from Cokato to Blaine? Wild Marsh is located north of Becker. It's a world of difference between a 5 stand and a walk thru course. I think the Horse and Hunt Club is located near you. That is a world class shooting facility.
Gus what team do you shoot on?

Wild Marsh is about 47 miles from work. I'm about 30 miles from Metro from my work. There's usually 9-11 buddies of mine shoot so it makes the trip worth while. BBQ/Beer after we shoot. Only shoot every other Tuesday also. I've shot a number of walk through courses and totally agree it's a lot funner but beggers can't be choosers. The funnest one I shot was in Wis. just over the border. Don't recall the name though. Haven't shot the Horse and Hunt club yet or Wild Marsh.

Shot the Horse & Hunt course for the first time last night in the leauge out there. Satisfied with a 29 - but the whole time was wondering if the Improved Cylinder choke I put in might be too open. More shots were taken farther out then I had anticipated. What do you guys chose?
Note: Shooting SBE with mostly 7 1/2 Federal game loads...there are target loads in #9 shot. Is that the best?

FR, when shooting my SBE I a use IC or sometimes skeet for clays and prefer to change shells rather than chokes. Ex. use 7.5's for longer shots and keep some 8's or 9's for those close shots. When I shoot the o/u I usually have IC and Skeet tubes in. Remember those pellets are stilling going the same distance at the same speed no matter what choke you have.

"hole in the pattern" always a good excuse for a miss...LOL grin.gif

Leagues started at del-tone-luth Monday. They changed the 5 stand this year. Last year you shot 2 5 stands for a score of 50. Now you shoot one 5 stand with single, report, report. Followed by shooting it again but single, true doubbles. First half ok second was harder.....37

Last night I shop the first round of my sporting clay career. At Beste's Sporting Clays in Sauk Centre, MN. I ended up with a 28, but went 1 for my last 10 clays. I was thinking it was an easy sport up until station 9 when reality hit. Very, very fun time. I really enjoyed it. We shoot every other Wed. Just a side question, what do you guys pay for shells and where do you get them?

Bushwacker, watch for sales and rebates...you should be able to get shells for $3 a box. Many stores offer case discounts of 5 - %10 off. Look for deals @ gander, mills, scheels, even Wal-mart. They may not be the best quality, but they still go BANG! grin.gif

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
