Favorite sporting clay load?

Thanks for the reply. I am talking shells. I've found that some of the lighter loads that guys shooting Over/unders shoot don't always have enough power to fully eject from my gun. That is why I mentioned what gun I shoot. Gus

I reload all my shells and like throwing 1oz #8 with my citori. I bump up the powder dram weight a little when loading for my 1100 to make sure she cycles on the doubles. Can't remember the exact drams off the top of my head though. Use to use Red Dot but changed to Clays as it seems to burn cleaner. Good luck and turn 'em to dust.

I usually shoot 1 1/8 for my auto or high velocity 1 oz. Some of the really cheap 1 1/8 i.e. estate, PMC or other similar brands are not that fast may not work any better than some 1 oz loads.

You won't go wrong with Winchester AA or Remington STS in my book. The light target AA may give you trouble, they are low recoil and might not cycle your REM.

I shot with a couple who shoot ~5,000 rounds a year and they shoot 7/8 oz and still smoke the clays. Which shows its where you put the shot not how much shot ya throw.

The advantage of the o/u.....It eats what ever ya feed it grin.gif

Gus, I load all my own sporting loads. I've gone to a .20ga o/u. I use 1 oz. #8 magnum shot with a winchester wad(the yellow one) over universal clays powder and win. primer. In 12ga I use red dot powder 1 1/8 oz. #8 magnum shot, hawk wads, and win primers. For all gauges I use win AA cases. You'll have to let me know if you want exact powder measurements, I'll have to look them up.

I am surprised you cant cycle small shells because my 11-87 is the only autoloader I have seen cycle 7/8oz cheap loads. As long as I keep it clean it will shoot anything. The gun is about 5 years old and I shoot about 1500 rounds/year through it.
