i have a .22 and a .17 but my best one is .17 distance up to 2miles and a .22 is up to 1.5miles the .17 is much powerful, but a .22 will also do..good luck

Here is my Remington 597 just for anyone interested in pictures. I upgraded the BSA .22 Special 4x32 scope that was on their for a much better Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x40 scope. Also added a Remington 30 round clip filled with CCI Stingers.

Looks like a nice set up......you might want to take the back sights off the ramp, they look like a little high and you might be seeing them in your scope as well. A small allen wrench loosen the screw and slide that rear sight up and off the ramp....Looks like a nice deal for 175

It was an okay deal, but I did spend $80 on the scope so I could have just got a new one but this works.

And yes the iron sight is in the way but it doesn't obstruct the view at all.

Looking back on your purchase jeff, what do you think? I have seen you go from never having shot a rifle, wanting to buy a .30-06 for small game and deer (lol) to a sure shot at distance, I'm confident that we will hit our limit many times this year buddy. I'm very proud to have introduced you to the wonderful world of shooting/hunting!
