Marcum problems

Used my Marcum today and it will not pick up my jig at all. It will see bottom and that is it no mattter what the gain is set to. I had the book and the number with the warrenty was disconnected. I didn't know they sold. I finally found the number and got a voice mail that said they would get back to me within 48 hours. So what I am wondering is what should my plan of action be. I am sure my tranducer is shot. The hole unit is less than a year old I bought it in February. I think they should send me a new flasher. Wondering if anyone has dealt with the new marcum company. I always heard the old company was the best

It sounds like the transducer, that's for sure. A couple quick things you can try are to make sure the connections are clean and tight on the back of the unit, and get the tranducer wet and rub the face of it against your jeans or bibs. If that doesn't work then you probably need a new transducer.

They still have great customer service, just new owners. I'd call them on Monday and explain what's going on. My guess is you'll get a replacement transducer.

I know it's frustrating when you need to go through this kind of stuff, but I don't think they should give you a brand new flasher if it's just the transducer that's bad. You should expect them to take care of the problem you're having, not to replace everything.

Good luck getting it taken care of.

Sorry about your luck with the flasher, but dude -- you're being unreasonable with your expectation on the warranty repair. Once they figure out what it is, you should expect them to replace or repair whatever is wrong, not everything. Some common sense goes a long way when dealing with companies on warranty issues.

When your car has a problem, even a MAJOR problem (engine, transmission, etc), they replace or repair what's broken, they don't give you a whole new car.

When you need new flooring, roofing, siding, or some other piece on your house, you replace what you need, not get a whole new house.

Similarly, if a cheap transducer goes bad on a multi-hundred dollar flasher, you don't replace the whole flasher.

Sounds like the same issues I had with my Marcum. I am currently on my 3rd transducer. From what I understand, they were dealing with a few bad batches of ducers.

Marcum replaced mine, no questions after I bought it and then I made it 2 yrs before the 2nd one failed (2nd bad batch??) Even rushed it back to me for a fishing contest 2 days later.

Since I was past warranty, I bought the latest ducer for $69, and it's like I have a brand new flasher. I get the smallest jig at 30ft down on gain set at 1 or 2. I got rid of the rubber stopper, think it has a bad effect on the cord. Switched to a clip style.

Give them a call. Be patient. This is a busy time of year, and their service folks will do their best to make sure you have a unit that works like it should. I'm still very pleased with mine. Good Luck!

First things first, is the battery fully charged and is the connections good on all connections. If the battery has not been fully charged it can weaken the power sufficiently to complicate target acquisition.

Check the charge.

Dab a tiny bit of dielectric grease on all connections including the transducer pins at the head unit.

Is still nothing swap out a Marc ducer with a friend or stop into a store and ask them to test it with a ducer from another unit.

If it proves to be bad, ask the associate for the direct contact to Marc customer service and see if he will call it in.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
