Pipestone Clearwater Chain in the summer

Recommended Posts

We are looking for some info for a quick 3 day trip in the summer. We have been going to the Nestor Falls/ Sioux Narrows area for the last few years. We are thinking about giving this area a try. It's just a buddy and myself. We are on the water for about 10-12 hours a day and like to catch bass, walleyes, northerns-- whatever. Just want some action. We usually go up around the 4th of July. We have a decent boat so we can get around a pretty well. There seems to be quite a bit of water w/ a lot of variety. Any info on this area or any other spots that you would suggest would be great. Thanks

I would suggest going to Pipestone and concentrating that area. Our family use to own the marina/boat launch, bait store on Clearwater for a number of years to hear many of the fish stories. Superbee on this forum has a cabin on Pipestone, Im sure he will make note on your thread. Be worth looking into staying right up on Pipestone during your trip.

Pipestone does offer alot of variety and some great fishing. We have boat in outpost on Pipestone that would be perfect for what you are looking for. It is on the top end of Pipestone on the end that has the some of the best fishing on the system. Shoot me an email on dates and any question you might have and we can get you set up. Or call me on my cell 807-275-5357

Give Superbee a call, he is right the best fishing on the entire clearwater/pipestone system is all within 6 miles of his cabin. Stay where the fish are don't stay at the bottom of the chain and deal with the portages and all the people, boat up to the top and stay there especially if you only have a few days for a trip.

There are some great spots within site of his cabin, good luck.

I'd also have to put in a plug for the area around Superbee's cabin. I stay on the lower end of Pipestone for a week every summer at a private cabin. There is good fishing around there, but it is mostly deep trout water. The area around Superbee's cabin, up The Arm, and into Schistose has everything you could want. SM Bass, LM Bass, Walleye, Pike, Muskie, and Trout. Two summers ago we were fishing within sight of his cabin and in literally under 5 minutes my buddy and I had two 27" eyes and a 29" eye. 10 minutes later another guy got a 10 lb Trout. Never know what you are going to catch up there.......Beautiful area too, and not many people.
