I was going to say that too... Sounds like a job for Bud or Jack... Maybe a little Captain would could make a difference too??

Just kidding....

I'm not sure how this would apply to your predicament, but I'll share a method of cutting ice that I have used with success. On a couple of occasions in the spring of the year when the snow begins to melt, I have found that the culvert in front of my residence is frozen shut, thereby impairing the water from flowing to the other side of the road and away. What I do is take my 5HP, 2" Pacer Water Transfer pump and hook a short 2" suction hose to the inlet and a longer, flexible 2" hose to the outlet with a 2" to 1" adapter on the end of the hose. I then attach a short piece of rigid 1" pipe to the adapter. I make sure the suction hose is fully immersed in water (in your case, water sounds like it is rather plentiful), start the gas engine and position it inside of the culvert. Set something heavy on the pipe so it can't be propelled backwards-walk away from it for a bit(go enjoy a barley beverage, perhaps), return and you'll find that the water pressure has eroded the ice away rather nicely. Works great with a heck of a lot less effort than the methods described- I think you can apply this method to your situation, as well. Good luck. laugh

Broman, You see it as Safety? Look at the big picture.. 'A bunch of drunks swinging picks, chisels and hammers while standing on the ice'... pan out, there stand 4 guys wearing 'shades' with 30.06's, waitin' to go to 'work'. Looks like a scene from "Cool Hand Luke"!! gringringrin Phred52

How thick was the ice when you first were fishing(or left your house.)I have had to get a runner house out before. All 6 inches froze down just to the floor. We were on a solid two feet of ice so rather than chipping and chiseling forever we used a chain saw and cut v channels to get the house out.I feel for you dude. This is no fun as far as ideas the pump and running water (when above freezing) sounds very innovative.(million dollar idea?)good luck I hope you get her out!c63
