Otter Window repair ?

Hookey

Question

I had one of the side windows crack during the recent cold snap. Is there a repair kit or does anyone know of a good material to use or process to repair it ? (other than duct tape and plastic)

I am thinking maybe a bit if 'Shoe-Goo' on both sides and a small strip of plastic on both sides to cover the holes ?

I may have to send it in after the season is over...

Thanks !

I had the same thing I really like my otter but 30 below and plastic windows dont seem to go together. One of my side winows just cracked so I think a piece of tape will fix it but the window in the door pretty much shattered, so im not sure what to do with it.

How old are your houses. I had my new Lodge out in the 30 below stuff with 25 mile an hour winds and my windows stayed nice and plyable. The new windows are a big improvement.

Call Otter and they will get you some replacement windows.

I have a couple of cracked windows in my 2 yr old Cabin, and they are sewn in. I thought Otter wasn't replacing cracked windows that are sewn in anymore. I would love to have the ones attach with velcro, and wonder if they would just sew in velcro and send back new velcro-on windows instead. I'm sure for a fee they would or Canvas craft would, but I'm not too worried about it for now.

For a quick fix maybe try clear duct tape. Not packing tape, but actual clear duct tape. At the moment I don't mind the extra vents anyways! I'll look into fixing mine in the off season.

Thanks for the replies.

My house is about 4 years old ? The windows are sewn in. I have a call into Otter and will let you know their reply.

The Velcro attached windows sound like a great idea.

I found a old roll of vinyl sheeting in the garage that is crystal clear and very plyable. It came from My-nards.

If Otter will not fix the cover or supply the materials I will have a shop sew velcro to the house and make me some window panels from the vinyl I have. Can't live in a house with broken windows !

Otter should have some velcro windows they can send you. They use them in their Wild series houses. I have had no problems at all with the new window material. I was out in 40 below temps last week and they did great.

Another tip is when you fold up your house make sure the windows arent being folded up real bad. I lay all my extra material between the 2nd and 3rd poles. Never had a window break.

Update !

I called Otter back and they had someone av today.

I ordered 2 side windows. These are Velcro windows and I will need to have velcro sewn to the house.

The gal in customer service could not tell me how much they charge for them so I will post the price charged to my plastic when I get them.

When the windows arrive I will also let you know how the new vinyl compares to the old and if they fit well.

Thanks !
