I used slush and snow in the bucket today and it worked great. I had a few nice 'bows and i wold just rotate them around periodically. When i got home they were still soft, and not even slimy! Can't believe it took these posts to turn me onto something so obvious, but i guess thats the beauty of this site.

As for the ice well. Looks great (especially for taking a bunch of pannies home at the end of a day). Its not something i'll buy this year, but when ice fever hits next fall count me in! It is also the kind of thing that you'd love to get for a gift but not neccesarily buy.

For some reason, the powers that be made fish incredibly tasty to some folks..I am one of those folks...I will never buy a fish..Coastal has marvelous fish, and they are as fresh as you can get...But still, you walk in, and it smells like fish...Before my fish go into the pan, you can sniff the meat and smell nothing...Nothing beats a couple fresh fish. Now as far as texture goes,..( which is important to me )..a fish is no longer fresh if it freezes on ice, and you bring it home, clean it and cook it...Freezing prime fish flesh does diminish it..It cannot be as good as an unfrozen piece of one that was wiggling 2 hours ago..Slush/snow works excellent, altho if it may thaw, I try to keep the fish on top of the ice/slush/snow...I don't like to have fish sitting in any standing water..I've caught fish in the morning, put them in snow, and they still were wiggly that night...suspeded animation...This also allows you to bleed them...a small cut at the gill body connection...Now thats good to do if you plan to freeze them, as I suppose that if there was a bit of blood in the fresh fish, it would just be making it's own gravey...Blood in meat tho' is Not good for freezing, so bleed 'em if you can...Good Night!

Slush/bucket for me too. I use a rectangular bucket that cat litter comes in though, instead of a round 5g. bucket. It fits perfect behind the seat rail of my Trap Pro and has a lid that is partially hindged. I'm not sure how many gallons it holds but it had 35lbs. of litter in it when I bought it. I think it's around 4 or 5g. You can get them at any Cub store. My Frabil minnow bucket fits perfect in it too with the lid down when it's empty.

I used the slush method this weekend, works good. But I had a mishap yesterday. When I get home I usually leave my bucket by the front door to bring in the house after I get my stuff put away, changed, etc. Then I bring it in and clean the fish. Well, I forgot the bucket, and we went out to a church function for the evening. When I was getting ready for bed at about 11:00 I remembered the fish. Doh! I had a big frozen block of fish! grin

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
