White Otter Wilderness

Recommended Posts

We are planning a canoe and fishing trip to White Otter Wilderness. Usually we go to Quetico but decided to try something different.

I would be interested in Route or Lake suggestions. Looks like mid June is the time frame. There doesn't seem to be much information available, so any help would be appreciated.

You might want to contact Barry and Carolle at Brown's Clearwater West Lodge. They are really nice people and have a lot of knowledge of the area. I fish up there in the winter. White Otter is a beautiful lake. If you don't mind taking a boat rather than a canoe, White Otter has a lot to offer. It is a large lake, so canoeing might be difficult. Brown's runs the portage from Clearwater West to White Otter. Otherwise there are numerous smaller lakes in the wilderness area for canoeing. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I'll give them a call a little closer to trip time. It looks like there is a variety of water that is inaccessable by boat since it requires portaging. We have to get past the first lakes anyway since non-canadians aren't allowed to camp in the "green zone" if I understand correctly.

This is sort of an experiment after many years in Quetico park.
