When I was stationed over there we would go to a little Gasthouse and that was one of my favorite thing to order.

The other thing I miss is ein halb kähnchen mit Pommes Frites with a mug of beer.It is a half chicken with french fries and the chicken is cooked on rotating spits. I was in Augsburg for close to 3 years.

What was gasthaus name?

Len I do not remember the name but it was out the back gate on Sheridan Kaserne and maybe 5 to 10 k away. The place had kegel lanes in the basement.This was the place we went for good food and if we were going out to have a beer and a sandwich it was usually Our Place for a BLT and a bowl of goulash soup. It has been over 25 years since I got out so things are a little sketchy . It was the most fun times that I have ever had between work and play. I worked out at Gab. so life was pretty good and to be skiing in the alps just about every weekend was so cool. I would like to think that I will go back some day but I do know that I will never forget the town.

ALL Kasernes closed now.

Much different city.

Love the food and beer there.

The festivals there were unreal.
