Some info for everyone.

Tanaka Power Equipment is a Brand within the Hitachi Power Tools Group.(Tokyo, Japan)

Tanaka augers and powerheads are distributed by quite a few places around the cities. There are quite a few sizes available too. Tanaka offers a ice auger bit, but I think its a chipper blade and only 30 inches long (not much good)

Tanaka seems like a good engine overall, but my guess is the blade on a Nils gives it some of its advantage. If someone was real crafty they could probably outfit a 9 or 10 inch bit on a Tanaka engine (might still have weight savings over other brands.)

Do you fish with Rapala's their a fin product also. Just giving you a hard time. The Nils fits in to our scandinavian roots here in Minnesota. Support our ancestors along with purchasing one from Outdoor pro store. grin

My ancestors aren't from finland...Norway, Germany, and Denmark grin Actually I'm sure the Nils are great. I just happen to have good luck with the SM's and I'm trying out the new Strike-Lite this year. So far it's been awesome. I do try to buy as much as I can USA, but it's getting harder and harder all the time. As for the Raps...I've got a few(boxes)!
