Vex problems ?

I have a older Vex FL8 SLT, I am finding that when I first turn it on I have tons of interference, and cannot see my jig. Once its on for 5 min things start to work properly, and I can turn the sensitivity back down to 2-3. I do have the S-cable. Any thoughts, besides time for a new one?

I do not think it is interferance..It is targets...It is very likely bubbles on your line, so as the are dissipated into the water the unwanted targets go away.

I think it is working fine...just bubbles...no worries Eh. I see this often on braided line and on mono.

The good news is I think you have a very solid ducer...seeing tiny bubbles with the S-Cable in place at a low gain is a great indication it is a winner.

FYI: Most of the time you will not need the S-Cable in water deeper than 20'...but not always. Buggy water and at night especially it will come in handy, gain calibration is key here, as is lure choice. Round lures make a better target, even tiny tiny round lures...keep this in mind. Hence the problem with unwanted air bubble targets, they are perfect little round targets and easy for the Vex to see.

Also periodically Clean the ducer face, free it of bubbles and tiny bugs, the unwanted targets should go away.
