"Little Mac" the Northern Hawk Owl

This northern hawkowl has been seen so many times on the McDavitt Road...figured he deserves his own title......hmmmm!...How about "Little Mac"....a few of us were watching him this blue sky, sunshiney morning...then a guy was going to trap him for an owl study and band him....I left before he got started ...then of course there's "Big Mac"..the Great Grey Owl!...another time another day!

Very nice! I wonder who was doing the banding? I got images of one yesterday that has jewelry... he was off Hwy 7.

Mike...I've met the "owl study team" a couple times in the last few weeks...Dave Alexander was on McDavitt this morning...he's with Frank Nicoletti at times and together they travel all over the north country doing the owl study of great greys.boreals, northern hawkowls and others...I guess I could have stayed and watched but 3 other car loads of photogs and birders drove by and stopped to admire "Mac"...I figured it best to let the owl settle down so Dave could do his thing...

note: I watched this owl puke up an "owl pellet" through my lens...wish I was ready but I missed the chance....
