crappieflop30
i will set up the situation. we had tip ups set up on a sandy inside turn of a break into deeper water. we were consistantly getting cigar sized fish on the two middle of the 4 tip ups which were at 13 and 15 ft. my question is, how far off do you think i am from larger fish? my first thought was they were deeper, yet our deep line never got hit. any ideas? maybe just completely wrong spot? thanks
Bigeye30"
if your sitting on the edge with any weeds in shallower I'd be setting up one of those tipups ultra shallow. 5-8 fow with the bait holding about 6-12" above the weeds. To me it sounds like there coming from the deep to the shallow and feeding and probably returning back deep after feeding. If this is the case I like to look shallower as well, however if the 13 fow is the top of the break then I'd also look at where the sand transitions to either mud or rocks along that same area out deep. Ray1
I would say move to a different spot. Walleyes tend to school by size. If little ones are all your catching you need to move. Where? I would try to find a weedline that runs out to 17' and fish as close to that without being in the weeds. Find the bitfish like perch and sunfish and you should start catching bigger fish. zepman
Could be just the wrong time of day also. I like spots like this because the fish are there for a reason. Maybe after dark/late night or early morning there is a whole different class of fish using this area. If you have the time, try another time of day before you move off of fish.
