Scott M
Thanks for answering the question about the ON Outdoors Card. Now I have another.I read online that getting a RABC through the mail takes 3-4 weeks. Can you get one at a customs office more quickly? Are these one time use permits, are they amendable, how long are they good for? Thanks for your help!
Gas Man
The last time I filed at the border, the agent reviewed the paperwork, and asked me to take a seat and wait. He must have gone back to the office and watched the end of a three hour Matlock marathon or something. Besides the drive, it took a while at the office to process the paperwork. I would also call ahead. Sometimes when the supervisors are away, paperwork snags can wait until the next day. As a matter of fact, I think that the Emerson/Pembina crossing, north of Grand Forks is the central office for the district, and may be the best shot if you’re in the area. The permit is good for a year, and I would include anyone that you think may cross with you on your application prior to submission. It’s also only good for crossing from Lake of the Woods, to Lake Superior, if that makes a difference.Gas Man
Scott M
Dude, I heard that from a couple people, in person takes a couple hours! That's a major bummer. How much do they cost? I saw $30 Canadian.

fishermn
It usually does not take 4 weeks, typically its more like 2 - 3. If you put down the date that you need it as being a couple days ahead of your trip, they usually will get it back to you in time. Just make sure you leave a reasonable amount of time for them to process it...
swampbuck
I renew mine every year at Fort Frances, The longest I have ever had to wait is an hour and that was with six people in front of me with one of them having a DUI. (He did not get his permit and had to go home) As long as you dont have anything on your record it should not take very long. Just dont show up during start of the day 8-9am, at lunch, or at end of the shift 5:00 other than that it goes pretty quick
