darkhouse question

I just bought a clam 2000 & not sure how dark the fishhouse should be. It has a black roof & I have a tarp over the one end. Does anyone have an opinion on whether it should be dark enough for spearing. thank you.

Try it out.

You will know real quick.

If it is not then drape some blankets or other light blocking material over it.

the darker you can get it the better you can see. The problem with the clams that i have seen is that when the sun gets high around 12, its hard becuase they dont cover as much sun as the black house. What i have seen people do, is throw there coats and overhauls over the house on the side of the spear hole.

is there a glue or tape you could possibly use to patch all the sew holes in a shack? n would it work, I know you can patch one but I dont know if the material would alot something to stay in the holes... any ideas bout that; n what ya can use?

I have clam 2000 that I bought in 2006. I've not speared out of it, but have spent many hours sight fishing out of it - for all types of fish. I have never had an issue with fish - specifically pike - coming into the hole. Some come in slowly toward my bait, others slam it, just like you would see in a spear house. Only trouble with mine is that I don't think the holes are big enough to spear out of.

there is a fabric glue that works well on canvas and I have patched my flip over with it. Its called tear mender and you can get it at most hardware store or I think that wally world also carries it.

One thing that doesn't work is duct tape. I patched a small tear with 2 layers of duct tape and the light light comes right through. That surprised me.

I had dark canvas windows made for my Quikfish III. Pulled off 3 of the 4 clear vinyl windows and put the dark canvas windows up. That helps a little.

Go To the lumber yard and get some sikaflex you can patch any thing with that stuff. Just don't touch it
