Well I have promoted the cabelas underwater camera on here before but today mine had some issues. While i was fishing the picture started to shake and then it was like it wasn't getting a feed from the camera. Now that I am home the screen is just gray. Has anyone had any similar problems?

Cabela's Advanced Anglers Underwater Cameras

I bought the same one and just tried it on the water today. Everything worked fine, I even saw the crappies that weren't biting. Check Cabelas web site for the camera and read the reviews. I think few other people had the same camera problem, with a few fixes. They have a good return policy, but if you're like me, cabelas is 40 miles north or south.

My issue is that the camera is $129 in the store and $98 online. Boo

I've noticed that after using them for 2 years is they don't work worth [PoorWordUsage] in very cold weather, and unless you're in super clear water, after the sun sets the infrared reflects all the little particles in the water to make it very difficult to see past a foot or 2. Also check to see if your battery is dead, THat is usually an indicator of cold or dead battery.

I had a problem with mine last year during an ice fishing trip and just stopped in Cabela's on the way home and they swapped the broken one with a new one. I really like the camera and have found that I can see (somewhat) at night if I adjust the dials on the front of the monitor. I don't think there are too many cameras on the market that work well in nighttime conditions, especially for the price of the Cabela's camera. If you have a chance try to bring it in to one of the stores, hopefully they can get you a new one.

nmitchell17, I had the exact problem you desribed when I went out on Saturday. I took it back to Cabela's and exchanged for a new one no questions asked. While I was in line another guy came up to the service counter with his camera so it must be a common problem. The awesome thing with this camera is that all cabela's products have a LIFTIME WARRANTY. You may have to go to Rodgers but you'll never have to buy a new one again!

well, I just bought the 5.5 in screen one tonight. for $98 plus my $20 off mailer card, I couldnt pass-up the chance to try it for myself. I will hope I dont have any issues with it. But just took it out of the box, and everything including the LED's seem to be on the up and up...

Just as an FYI, I was told at the Rogers store that if the online price is less they will price match. Just go to the front of the store near the customer service counter, there's supposed to be a kiosk where you can print the product page with price from the HSOforum, and they'll match it in store. It's kind of a hassel, but probably worth it to save a few bucks.

Reciept and original packaging is going to be required very soon so dont throw it out.

They guarantee their products 110%

My dad had a pair of boots that were 4 years old and they gave him new ones no questions asked.

I doubt they will ask for a receipt and box for their own products

They are passing out the info at the stores. To many people have been taking advantage of the return policy by buying stuff to use for a short time and returning it when there isnt anything wrong with it. They just wanted to use it for free.. .

You are talking returns the rest of us are talking warranty, A slight difference there.

I recently had a camera issue as well on a Marcum VS350. My unit had alot of the same gittery screen and loss of communication with the camera. I contacted Naturevision directly and they basically said that "you get what you paid for" and any of their units around 200 and less are not built to last.

The monitor on my unit quit completly. Marcum didnt tell me how to fix it but I opened up the monitor and there is a fuse in there that was blown (likley related to the camera cable issues). After fixing the monitor then the camera continued to go in and out until I just gave up on it. Its not worth missing fishing time for a camera issue.

They get a ton of different problems with the camera and cord. Im not knocking them though because they do have an upgrade program if you have an old broke VS350 or probably something similar they will give you a huge discount on a new unit. I just ordered my new one and it works great. The offer runs through April.

I absolutly love fishing with the camera. I just feel like a little kid exploring the unknown!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
