Brian,

I'm having a similear problem. I keep getting unrequested web pages displayed - advertising for various products etc. I downloaded the current Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool this morning and it is running now. If you want, I could copy it to a CD and you could pick it up. I doubt we live too far from each other, after all Cottage Grove isn't too big. We live just North of St Rita's church.

Sounds like a full malware scan/cleaning is in order.

Tons of things and advice abound. This will probably get "edited by Moderators" but Major Geeks forum offers excellent step-by-step advice...that you must follow exactly, BTW.

Jumping around with the hit or miss, "try this" approach usually doesn't work to get it all, although it certainly can make an improvement.

I had the same issue. A PC-head buddy of mine recommended that I change out my virus protection (moved to Norton) AND switch from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. Made the switch and the performance is way better than I ever had with IE. I eliminated the [PoorWordUsage]-up problem too.

The switch is really easy. I should have done it years ago.
