I am thinking on getting this for myself and was wondering what you guys think about this product. Is the black and white good enough, or is the color a must, I want to use the lakemaster MN map set with this unit. Does this really help you out or should I just save my money. Please tell me what you think, and your experiences with this unit, to help me decide. you can also use this for open water fishing as well right?I live in alexandria and see that their is alot of lakes around here on the lakemaster can this help me find better spots???

I have owned my h20c for over two years now and you will love it. This unit will do everything you're looking for it to do. Tis unit is very easy to operate and navigate through the functions. I would go with the color because it really helps when looking at lake maps and contour lines. It can get pretty blended if your staring at black and white while driving around on the lake. It will help you find better spots for fishing as you can get closer quicker to the drop offs and transition areas of the lake bottom. Go for the h20c, you wont regret it!!!! If you look closely you can even see my h2oc sitting next to my powerade in my avatar picture! I use it everytime im out....

I agree somewhat I say this because I heard battery life is severely shortened by the color option, I have a black and white and I like it alot, for instance one night a couple of weeks ago I was laying in bed messing around with mine trying to find potential spots to put my house in the morning and I found this hump out in the middle of the lake and I have been doing great out there since last monday, just because I was able to pinpoint this location. The unit is fairly user friendly after a little expermentation with it you will figure it out.

You will not be disappointed in whichever you decide to buy, if it says you are on a 15' depth contour you are and thats all there is to it, and to answer your summer ? They shine through there too. For instance you are trolling for walleyes and you pick a few up in a given area and you have your track option on you will be able to follow your exact path till you limit out or the fish quit biting, SIMPLY PUT THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 2 cents, for what it’s worth. I’ve been using the Expedition C with chip with friends who own similar Lowrance black and white units for a few years now. The colored units have a 16 channel receiver, and the black / whites have 12 channel receivers. I am usually able to acquire satellites faster as well as having a smaller deviation. I would go with the 16 channel receiver. This is all from a colorblind guy.

Use lith. batteries and you will get a lot longer life and get a power cord for the boat or vehicle. I keep two spare batteries in my fishing and hunting boxes just in case. I like my colored h2o for finding vegitation faster when using it in my boat. Takes guess work away when wide open on newer lakes that your not familiar with when zoomed out a mile or so! The h20 with my vexlar finds better spots quicker than the old days when winter fishing. I do not leave mine turned on long unless using it in my boat or vehicle with power cord.

Lake Master or Navionics chips are both great. Lake Master has a lot more roads etc so if you hunt and only fish MN, I would go with Lake Master. I use my navionics chip in my boat on my Lowrance 27C and take it out in the fall and put it in my h20 once I start Ice fishing. I also suggest getting a carry case as it will scratch the screen when putting it in a pocket and will also keep it dryer in wet conditions.

There are a lot of displays to learn but once you are familiar with them, it can save you a lot of time once using it in fishing or hunting conditions. Good luck and have fun! My 2 cents worth.

I have a b/w H2O that I got before the color H2Ocs were on the market. It works good but if buying now I would definately go with color, as others have pointed out it makes it a lot easier to read the maps and distinguish what you're looking at. H2Ocs and Lakemaster chips are great and will definately help you find great locations to fish as long as there are maps for the lakes you're fishing.

The only downfall to any chip is that it has limited info on some lakes. My Lakemaster doesn't have 3' contours on the lakes that I fish. My bro has a b/w with a navionics chip, so we rely on one another based on which lake we are fishing. Check the Lakemaster HSOforum for a list of lakes with promaps vs. regular maps.

One thing I love about the H20c is the ability to plan routes in advance the night before. I like to change locations hourly and I can always comeback to open holes. This unit has saved my countless hours on the ice. for some reason the 07' chip is more acurate than the 08'. I like the color cause it's easy to read at 25 or 30 mph on the sled. most times if it says I'm in 24 fow it's very close depending on the sharpness of the break.

The other thing is the unit makes me work harder for fish, instead of hanging around and waiting for fish to move through now we run and gun. more work but way more fun.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
